Position Details

Location: Lake Crystal, MN

Salary: $60,000 – $85,000 (Starting)

About Us

The Lake Crystal Area Recreation Center (LCARC) is a vital 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to improving our community's quality of life through health, wellness, and recreation. Our vibrant, 60,000 sq. ft. multi-functional facility features a 140,000-gallon swimming pool, indoor playground and hosts a diverse range of Aquatics, Senior Programs, Youth After-School Programs, group fitness classes and family-friendly events.

The Role

We are seeking a visionary and community-minded Executive Director to lead our team, manage daily operations and champion our mission. Overseeing an annual operating budget of approximately $1 million and a dedicated staff of over 50 full- and part-time employees, you will drive strategic growth, financial health, and community engagement.

This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on operational oversight and strong community partnership building.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in executive leadership, nonprofit management or recreational facility administration.

  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets (~$1M preferred).

  • Demonstrated success in fundraising, donor relations and grant writing/administration.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a track record of building collaborative community partnerships.

  • Strong supervisory skills with experience managing full- and part-time teams.

  • A degree in recreation or related field is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Operations: Oversee daily operations, facilities management and maintenance of our facility. Lead, mentor and supervise the full-time management staff and overall personnel.

  • Financial Management: Direct budgeting, financial planning and fiscal oversight to ensure long-term organizational sustainability.

  • Fundraising & Development: Serve as the chief fundraiser. Identify, write and administer grants; while actively cultivating donor relationships and soliciting donations.

  • Community & External Relations: Build strong, collaborative partnerships with the City Council, LCWM Schools, Community Education, local sports groups, media, vendors, and LCARC members.

  • Programming: Supervise the development and execution of high-quality health, wellness, and recreational programming for all ages.
