Manager for Aquatics, Rentals, and Special Events 

The Manager for Aquatics, Rentals, and Special Events directs a comprehensive aquatics program, coordinates rentals, and plans community special events.  

This position is part of the core management staff and has responsibility over the Aquatics, Rentals, and Special Events budgets and staff, participates in committee work, and leads a variety of training for staff.  The successful candidate will possess a high degree of attention to detail, work well with a team, have strong computer skills, and must display a strong commitment to safety at all times. 

Job Duties for the position include:
  1. Aquatics
    • Hire, supervise, train and certify lifeguards to ensure safety and rule compliance
    • Coordinate seasonal group and private swim lessons
    • Responsible for aquatics-related equipment
    • Lead water aerobics classes and activities
    • Provide community training such as babysitter’s training, CPR/First Aid, etc. 
  2. Special Events
    • Create and coordinate a variety of community events which encourage community participation and contribute to community wellbeing. 
    • Traditional events include a vendor fair, children’s carnivals, and other programs
  3. Facility Rentals
    • Coordinate rental of the facility to ensure maximum use of space and revenue
    • Demonstrate excellent customer service to members and customers
    • Supervise Building Manager and other employees in their role serving rental groups
    • Administer rental billing
  4. Central Staff Responsibilities
    • Serve on one or more committees including Fundraising, Grants, Facilities, Membership or others
    • Assist in major center events 
    • Manage area budgets
This is a full-time salaried position which includes generous paid time off, holiday pay, and an employer-paid health savings account option.  Salary is commensurate with experience.  The hours for this position vary and are flexible and include some evening and weekend responsibilities.  Intangible benefits include the great flexibility in schedule and the family-friendly work environment. 

The ideal candidate would possess a degree in Recreation, Parks and Leisure, Sports Management, Physical Education, Exercise Science, or other related discipline and hold some or all of the following certifications: lifeguard certification, 1st Aid, CPR, lifeguard trainer, WSI, CPO, water safety training instructor, CPR/1st Aid Instructor, or other fitness certifications, or be able to obtain these certifications shortly after hire.

The Lake Crystal Area Recreation Center is a non-profit entity managing the programming and facilities of a multi-functional recreation, event, senior, youth, and community center serving the greater Blue Earth County Area.  Our mission is to improve the quality of life of all area residents through recreation.  The LCARC facility includes a 140,000-gallon swimming pool, 2 gymnasiums, walking track, meeting rooms, and a fully-equipped fitness studio and fitness center.   See www.lcarc.com for more information about our facility.
